MicRo Wedding at Vancouver's City Hall : Redo Wedding photoshoot & Anniversary Photoshoot

These two wonderful people had dreamed of having beautiful photographs to remember their wedding day—a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of their love. In August 2025, they held an intimate micro wedding at Vancouver City Hall. Sadly, the photographer they hired falsely presented themselves as a professional, and the photographs they received were incredibly disappointing—far from the quality or care they had been led to expect.

The following year, their sister reached out to me and shared their story. She told me how much the experience had affected them and that, as their anniversary approached, they hoped they might be able to recreate some of their wedding portraits—this time with the professional images they had originally dreamed of having.

I was honoured to say yes.

On their anniversary, they put on their wedding attire once again, and we set out to create the photographs they should have had all along. It wasn't about trying to replace their wedding day. It was about giving them an opportunity to reclaim a piece of that experience and create new memories together—ones that reflected their love, their connection, and the significance of the commitment they made to one another.

There was something especially meaningful about seeing them dressed in their wedding clothes again, one year later, with a completely different chapter to the story. What began as such a disappointing experience became an opportunity to create something beautiful.

As a photographer, I believe wedding photography is about so much more than simply taking beautiful photographs. These images become part of a couple's family history. They are the photographs they will look back on years from now, share with their family, and hold onto long after the wedding day has passed.

I feel incredibly honoured that they trusted me to help them create the memories they deserved—and that their anniversary will now be remembered not only for what went wrong, but for the beautiful photographs and moments we created together.

ReDo Photoshoot of Micro Wedding at Vancouver BC City Hall during the summer of FIFA

We decided to head down to Kitsilano Beach after taking photos at Vancouver's City Hall. The sun was defused by the Okanagan BC Wild Fires creating a soft magical glow that reflected the warmth between the Laura and Izzy.

Izzy and Laura celebrate their love with a little dancing in the tall grasses on the beach. I was proud of the two of them for pushing through the discomfort of the onlooking beach crowd and creating moments between them that were genuine - loving - and full of laughter.

Our final photo moments were some of my favourites of the shoot, celebrated in some wildflowers at Kitalano Beach. Izzy bought Laura a an anniversary bouquet in gorgeous bright colours so she'd feel like she had the feeling of the wedding day but this time
