What an experience it was photographing this young family with their incredibly beloved horse at NFTRA.

The natural open fields of Maple Ridge, the whimsical trees, and the mountains stretching into the distance stirred something nostalgic in me — a longing for a time gone by, when life felt a little more intertwined with nature and the animals we shared it with.

Or perhaps it wasn’t nostalgia at all, but a romantic glimpse of the present… a reminder that there are still beautiful ways to live where family, animals, open land, and nature are deeply connected.

Whatever it was, I felt incredibly grateful to be there.

To capture the quiet connection between Anna and her family, and the magnificent animal who is clearly such a beloved part of their lives, was a true privilege.

These are the kinds of sessions I love most — not simply photographs of people, but photographs of relationships, connection, and a way of life. 🤍 I know these animals also play a key role in assisting and healing humans, at NFTRA, and I can't wait to create magical memories for their families.

Just loved how this precious baby boy applauded himself when he got up to ride on the horse - after his brother had been in the saddle most of the photoshoot.
